March 15: Marijuana, Medicine or Myth?

Find out about medical marijuana from expert Fred Gardner.

Since 1996, Californians can legally use medical marijuana for relief of chemotherapy nausea, AIDS, multiple sclerosis, pain, glaucoma, fibromyalgia, epilepsy, and other illnesses with authorization of their physician and a “215 Card.”

The March 15 Society for Community Work speaker, Fred Gardner, is a journalist covering the medical marijuana story in all its inter-related aspects —science, medicine, politics, law, business, history. He is the former editor of the Harvard Crimson, and on the editorial board of Scientific American.

In 2003, at the urging of Tod Mikuriya, MD, (brother of UUSF’s Mary Jane Mikuriya), Gardner launched a journal in which doctors who monitor cannabis-using patients publish their findings and observations.
