SCW and the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic From the Gold Rush to the Summer of Love, and today, the Society for Community Work is committed to help. SCW began in the wake of crushing need following the Gold Rush. The Haight Asbury Free Clinic formed in response to “The Summer of Love.” But there is another connection between the two. Tuesday, February 16, Jeff Schindler of the Clinic will show how one of SCW’s many community grants help provide the most comprehensive health care services available at a single health center anywhere in San Francisco. An SCW grant helps fund the clinic’s Intergenerational Care Center.
