Scholarship Committee

The Society for Community Work (SCW) scholarship is awarded to students who would like to obtain vocational training and/or attend a two- or four-year undergraduate institution. Scholarships are awarded to qualifying high school seniors and to college undergraduates. SCW scholarships are awarded for only one year at a time, thus a recipient must resubmit an application each year to be considered for a continuing scholarship. Please note that non-citizens who do not qualify under the “Dream Act” are encouraged to apply.

SCW scholarships are awarded on a number of criteria, but the primary emphasis is on financial need. Other factors taken into consideration are:

  • Scholastic competence – candidates must verify their competence by submitting a transcript or GED certificate.
  • A well-written and compelling personal essay describing your life’s journey. Grammar and conciseness are important!
  • Submission of all required application documentation by the designated deadline.

The 2013-14 application deadline is April 19, 2013
